Palm Ale, Speciale Belge

Originally brewed at the beginning of the 20th century, as pilsners and lagers were becoming popular, the Belgian Brewing Guild challenged its breweries to create an ale that was true to Belgian tradition but was lighter and had refreshment. They called this style - Speciale Belge (Belgium special ale) - and palm is the brand that answered that challenge. Palm is brewed according to a unique, Belgian top-fermentation brewing process that yields the well-balanced amber ale. It all begins with the purest of water from Palm breweries' deep underground spring. The specially-selected malt, made according to our own recipe, is created using two-row summer barley from France's Champagne region, giving Palm its honey-like mellowness. A symbiosis of three yeasts is united with fine hops from Kent, England, giving Palm its unique aroma and subtle harmony. Since 1747, our family-owned craft brewery, situated in Steenhuffel, Belgium, has been the home of what today is known as Palm Breweries. While a craft brewer by definition, Palm Breweries is Belgium's largest independent brewery and has a celebrated portfolio of internationally acclaimed ales. Palm's very name evokes victory and fierce independence as in the Palm Laurel Leafs worn by conquerors and kings of the ancient times. In our case brewery founder Arthur Van Roy's conviction that by remaining true to tradition, his ale would maintain its position despite the newly popular mass produced beers introduced in the late 19th century. So that each bottle of Palm retains top quality after leaving our brewery in Belgium, Palm is sold in an enclosed case to protect the ale from harmful UV rays. Palm is best enjoyed in its signature rounded glass, the finest way to experience the full and round taste of Palm. Enjoy! www.palmbreweries.com. Alc. 5.4% by vol.
